Is plastic as polluting as they say? No, and we explain why.
Plastic, due to its ease of use and its many properties, is currently not replaceable by other products in most of its uses. Thanks to its properties, it provides enormous benefits to life and the environment.
If we consider the entire production cycle of materials, plastic is among the least polluting both in terms of energy, being extremely light, and in terms of resources. Suffice it to say that the production of glass bottles is so wasteful that it is up to four times worse for the environment than the use of plastic bottles.
And it doesn't end there: giving a 'second life' to plastic waste would reduce the annual volume of plastic entering our oceans by up to 80%, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 25%.
The real challenge is therefore to create a circular economy in which plastic waste is considered a valuable raw material that must remain in the recycling loop. How? By 'educating' people on the correct use of plastics and the benefits that this brings, both in terms of environmental sustainability and financial savings. Want to know more?
